In between days :)

There's never a dull moment when Bryant is around :). He always has all kinds of ideas and fun things planned for us to do. He is definitely the kind of person to take advantage of anything that is going on in the community. I love it! One weekend we went on a triple date with one of his friend, Brandon (and his wife), and his little brother, Michael (who happened to be going on his first date). We went to Rocky Mountain Raceway (REDNECK!) and watched their derby cars. My favorite part was the chain races. For the chain races, they would attach 3 old beater cars together with chains. The front car had the gas, the back car had the breaks, and the middle car was just there and there was absolutely no communication between the drivers in the cars. They put about 25-30 of these groups of chain cars out on the figure 8 track and off they went. DISASTER! If you like demolition derbies, this is your thing times 10 :).

Another week we went to an Aquabats concert with my little sister and Bryant's siblings. This was my first Aquabats experience. I wasn't quite sure about it either but it turned out to be a blast! Lots of jumping around...and food fights hahaha!

We also went downtown to the Salt Lake Art Festival. They had a lot of really neat stuff. People are so creative! I loved the live bands and food...mmmmm pulled pork! *drool*

Every weekend has been a pleasant surprise with this boy. Oooh I like! ;)

Zion National Park

Bryant is so great! I had mentioned earlier that I wanted to hike "The Subway" at Zion National Park and he took initiative and made it happen. He is so cute because he planned the whole trip. We had reservations to stay at Zion Ponderosa which is a resort about 40 minutes outside of Zion National Park. At the resort, they had a zip line, paintball, pool/hot tub, a barn dance, giant bon fire, and lots of other fun stuff, all of which we did. He even surprised me with something I've always wanted to do...horse back riding :).

In the park, we went to Weeping Rock (mild hike) and Angel's Landing (moderate hike). Angel's Landing was so cool because the hike was steep enough to require chains going up to the peak. It was my goal to use the chains as little as possible. Success! haha (it really wasn't that difficult). It is a 1,488 ft climb in about 2.5 miles. Beautiful hike!

And then there was "The Subway"!!! We planned a whole day for this hike and we also had to get back country permits to hike it. We worked out a carpool plan with a few other people that Bryant had met in line when he got the permit. The deal was to leave our car at the bottom, have them drive up to the top, hike to the bottom, and drive them back to their vehicle. Which worked out perfectly! Minus one major detail...Bryant accidentally left HIS keys in THEIR car at the top and he only realized it after 7 hours of hiking! I'll never forget his face when turned around to me when realized he had left them. Priceless. He was panicked though! We were just about done with the hike so he ran ahead to catch the group in front of us and hitch a ride with them to the top and bring the car back down. No worries. Especially since he was back before our group even made it up from the final accent. So steep! The actual hike was soooo BEAUTIFUL though! We hiked through slot canyons, swam through freezing water, slid down slick rock like a slide, repelled down boulders and all kinds of crazy/fun stuff :). I am always so grateful and feel at peace when I'm out in Nature like that. Which reminds me of one of my favorite quotes:

There is pleasure in the pathless woods;
There is rapture on the lonely shore;
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more...

Shooting and rock climbing

A few weeks after our Moab trip, Bryant and I decided to plan another trip down to Zion National Park...just us. There was a hike I had heard about called "The Subway" and I really wanted to hike it. We wanted to prepare ourselves for the hike so we tried to find as much information on it as we could. Some of the sites online made it seem pretty difficult and said it would require some gear so we went out and bought climbing gear and wetsuits. Althought I've been climbing and repelling several times, Bryant and I aren't as experienced as we would like to be so he call up one of his friends to teach us how to set up the repels. It was a perfect opportunity to test our gear and have a great time out in the sun :).

Earlier that day, before we went climbing, we went shooting with some of Bryant's friends to the Bountiful shooting range. This was my first time shooting at a range. I don't get to go shooting very often, but when I do, I love it! I have a 22 rifle that I took which has a scope on it. I was never very good at aiming without one but Bryant taught me how and I'm not gonn lie, I was pretty good! ;) heh heh. I probably should mention that I got contacts since the last time I went shooting and they are most likely the reason I did so well. haha! It was a great weekend to be outside. <3
